Monitoring Respirable Dust in Coal Mines, Mineral Mines and Quarries (Refresher)

This course was developed to provide refresher training and upgrade to the new BSBWHS419 Contribute to implementing WHS monitoring processes course  for persons carrying out respirable dust monitoring for Queensland coal mines, mineral mines and quarries.  

This course is applicable to those who previously hold a Statement of Attainment from Simtars or Coal Services New South Wales as per Coal Mining Safety and Health Regulation 2017 Regulation – section 371 (sch 7(9)) or Guideline for Management of Respirable Crystalline Silica in Queensland Mineral Mines and Quarries (QGL02).

Training involves eLearning, pre-reading of a supplied Learner Guide and other relevant material, submission of online theory assessments and providing evidence of practical skills via a Third-Party Report.

On successful completion, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for BSBWHS419 - Contribute to implementing WHS monitoring processes and a Statement of Completion for the additional subjects recommended by the Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisor Committee (CMSHAC).

MRES Online eLearning – 5 learning modules provided (approximately 2 hours)
Required pre-reading (approximately 5 hours) including:
  • Learner Guide
  • Recognised Standard 14 - Monitoring Respirable Dust in Coal Mines (RS14)
  • Guideline for Management of Respirable Crystalline Silica in Queensland Mineral Mines and Quarries (QGL02)
  • Extracts from Australian Standard 2985
  • Other information, sources and material is also provided, however not required as pre-reading or completion of assessments. 
 Assessments
Assessment will include
  • Online multi-choice – These are provided at the end of each Module   1-5
  • Online written short answer – These are provided at the end of Module 5 
  • Third Party Report - provided by learner at enrolment
 Entry Requirements
To gain entry into this course you must
  • Hold a Statement of Attainment from Simtars or
  • Coal Services New South Wales for Monitoring Respirable Dust or
  • provide a Statutory Declaration to this affect.

Please note that, in accordance with Clause 3.3 of the RTO Standards 2015, Simtars RTO has up to 30 days in which to issue the certification document, providing all assessments are completed as satisfactory and all fees are paid.
