Site Safety Health Representative

The Site Safety and Health Representative (SSHR) course is designed for those already employed in the coal mining, metalliferous mining, construction or associated industries, including supervisors, site safety and health representatives, and site senior executives.
The course provides training on the skills and knowledge required to perform the duties of a Site Safety and Health Representative, as detailed in the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999.
You will participate in 2 to 3 days face-to-face of training and assessment with the trainer. The number of days depends on whether you already hold one or more of the three units of competency. If so, contact Simtars to clarify your requirements, otherwise you may wish to attend the full course as a Refresher.
The course consists of the following nationally accredited units of competency:
• RIIRIS301E Apply risk management processes
• RIIWHS301E Conduct safety and health investigations
• RIICOM301E Communicate information

Training Face-to-face workshops You will participate in 2 to 3 days face-to-face of training and assessment with the trainer. The number of days depends on whether you already hold one or more of the three Units of Competency. If so, contact Simtars to clarify your requirements, otherwise you may wish to attend the full course as a refresher. RPL You can apply for RPL for each of the units of competency in this qualification. You will need to supply information on your work history and samples of work and may need to undertake assessments and/or an interview to determine whether you have met the competency standards. RPL is assessed on a case-by-case basis. You can read more about RPL in our Learner Handbook or contact us to discuss your RPL options. Trainer Assessor details Simtars or Third Party Trainer Assessor Assessment You will be required to undertake written assessments and an oral presentation assessment during the workshop. Upon successful completion of assessments, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment from Simtars (RTO 45647) for the units successfully completed. |

Foundation skill requirements To study in this course, you must demonstrate that you are at, or exceed, level 3 in foundation skills on the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). Simtars has LLN eLearning solution to assess Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and foundation skills. Prior to enrolment you will be sent an email with a link to LLN to complete the LLN initial assessment. If you do not reach the required foundation level, the LLN tool can provide tutorials to help you reach the required foundation skill level.
