This course was developed to provide training for persons carrying out respirable dust monitoring for Queensland coal, mineral mines and quarries. This course is also applicable to those required to measure, collect, interpret, evaluate and report on workplace information and data in relation to respirable dust exposures in construction, manufacturing and processing industries. It involves a 2-day face to face workshop where students will learn through theory and practical simulations and consists of the following nationally accredited unit of competency: • BSBWHS419 – Contribute to implementing WHS monitoring processes You will also be trained in the following topics: • sampling to AS 2985 – 2009 Australian standard: workplace atmospheres—a method for sampling and gravimetric determination of respirable dust • appropriate data to be collected during sampling, including observations • use and applications of real-time monitors • use and application of an anemometer • dust observation methods and best practices for underground mines • dust observation methods and best practices for surface mines |

Course Description

As required by the Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee (CMSHAC) and the Mining Safety Healthy Advisory Committee (MSHAC) in addition to the requirements of the unit BSBWHS419, you will also be trained in the following topics:
